In 2023, The Master Gardener Foundation of Thurston County celebrated 25 years of support for gardeners, recyclers and composters in our area. We were incorporated in March, 1998 for the purpose of being “solely educational and charitable in furtherance of the Master Gardener Program in the State of Washington”. In 2005 the Articles of Incorporation were amended to include the Master Recycler Composter Program.
The Foundation raises thousands of dollars every year to support education and activities for Thurston County WSU Master Gardener and Master Recycler Composter programs.
We welcome anyone to become a Foundation member. You don’t have to be a Master Gardener or Master Recycler Composter to join.
Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by Washington State University Extension to provide science-based information to home gardeners about best gardening practices.
Master Recycler Composter volunteers are trained on how to reduce waste and increase public awareness of opportunities to prevent waste, recycle and compost in Thurston County.
Our Foundation supports the efforts of both programs through fundraising, organizing educational events, managing demonstration gardens and more. Learn more about the Foundation by visiting the Get to Know Us page.
